Skype for Business is Here!

Skype for Business is a communications and collaboration platform that is based on the familiar Skype experience while also offering enterprise-grade security, compliance and controls that were part of the Lync client. It is built right into Office, so features like presence, IM, voice and video calls, and online meetings are an integrated part of the Office experience.

Skype for Business will be automatically replacing Lync Online for Office 365 customers. If you currently use Lync Online in Office 365, the new Skype for Business user experience will appear for you in the coming weeks.  The Skype for Business client experience can be configured to allow businesses additional preparation time and/or control as to when the updated experience is rolled out to users.

If you are coming to Skype for Business from Lync, you will be familiar with many of the features already with some fresh new additions including:

  • New look and feel
  • Dual user experience
  • Call Monitor
  • Quick access to call controls
  • Emoticons

If your organization has Skype for Business Server 2015, you have additional features including:

  • Call via Work
  • Skype directory integration
  • Rate my Call

There are several different plan options for Skype for Business including standalone plans and bundles with Office 365. The Sales team at Beringer is available to discuss licensing options/plans and deployment models and best practices.
