While downloading or updating the Microsoft 365 apps, Microsoft is currently forcing the installation of the Microsoft Defender for Individuals application. It was initially presented to Windows 11 Insiders in March 2022, and from June 2022, users with Personal or Family memberships have had access to it. But as Windows Latest noted earlier this month, it will also be installed automatically when the Microsoft 365 installer is used for the first time or upon the subsequent update.
According to a recently-updated support article, "Beginning in late February of 2023, the Microsoft Defender program will be included in the Microsoft 365 installer." That implies that the Microsoft Defender app will automatically be installed for you when you install the Microsoft 365 apps on your Windows device.
Defender for Individuals, a standalone Microsoft 365 program that serves as a central dashboard to assist monitor Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android mobile and desktop devices, is now a standalone alternative to Microsoft Defender Antivirus, which is a Windows component. Also, it offers safety advice and alerts, such as instant notifications of changes to device security and pointers for securing your data and devices. According to Microsoft, the malware protection capability is exclusive to Windows, macOS, and Android mobile devices. On the other hand, iOS and Android phones have access to web protection (on Windows, web protection is provided by the built-in Windows Security solution).
