Dynamics 365 for Phones and Tablets

Dynamics 365 is here!  We’ve been busy learning about the new and upcoming features and are excited to share them with you.  Some features I’d like to point out are the apps for Dynamics 365 for phones and tablets.

As with the recent versions of Dynamics CRM, Dynamics 365 mobile apps practice the mantra “Configure once, deploy everywhere”.  This means that your admins can design your forms once and customizations will automatically be available in the mobile apps.    Additionally, your admin can easily simplify the fields displayed for the mobile experience.  Admins can hide entire tabs, sections and fields just for the mobile experience, all within the same web based form properties.  Developers can focus on building solid custom functionality for you and worry less about infrastructure visibility requirements.

What’s new and upcoming?

Both Dynamics 365 for phones and Dynamics 365 for tablets app will be available from the Windows Store, Apple Store and Google Play.  Microsoft is also working on creating specific apps tailored to Dynamics 365 for Operations and Dynamics 365 for Sales which are expected to include features such as scanning of bar codes and license plates.  They will also include access to your camera while creating a note!  You can read more about these upcoming apps and features in their current roadmap.

What basic features can you expect to see with the Dynamics 365 mobile apps?

*Note that some of these features are already available in the latest versions of Dynamics CRM Mobile Apps!

Personalized action hub

Need quick access to your active tasks?  When logging into the app, you’ll see a pane slide on the left that will display frequently used tasks and suggested priorities, such as upcoming meetings.  You will also be able to pin favorites here and view recently accessed records.

Notes
Want an easier way to create notes on the fly?  You will be able to create a note from anywhere and attach the note to what you’re currently working on.

Offline synchronization
Need offline capabilities?  Your admin will have the ability to set up full mobile offline synchronization or enable saving offline drafts of records you’re currently working on.  With full offline synchronization, you will be able to view, edit, and create records while offline. Your changes will automatically sync with Dynamics 365 once you return online from your device.  If fields have changed since the time you’ve downloaded the content, the fields will be marked so you decide on an appropriate action.

Dashboard views
Want interactive dashboards?  You will be able to view records displayed in your personalized dashboards and change the view displayed in dashboard lists.

Track your progress with charts
Want to see visual representations of your metrics?  You will have access to view many charts, such as your Top Customers by estimated Opportunity revenue.

The features are typically the same across all device platforms, with special features available for Windows 10 users. These include the use of Cortana voice commands and pinning of your records, contacts, views and dashboards to your home screen for quick access.

While these Dynamics 365 mobile features are subject to change, I recommend you check out their current Users guide to get a better idea of what’s in the current plan.
