Catastrophic network failure (and then our Network Admin quit…)

He just couldn’t handle it… walked out sobbing.

I had a meeting this  winter (almost past, thank God) with a CTO who left things to his network admin to manage along with an outsourced  IT support provider under contract with a block of support time. (They did not want to get locked into an agreement…)

The support provider offered all kinds of skills and the in-house guy was “working on” Office 365, Sharepoint, Citrix, Azure, Backup and Disaster Recovery and “Proactive” support. Yeah, alright. When comparing in-house and outsourced IT , the options can look skewed from the CEO vantage point. From where they sit, Bosses think – “my guy knows how we operate, what we need to run the business, how our people work and think. Ergo he must be the best choice to help us get this done.” However, in the end, if your network is not up and apps  are running slow or unavailable, it doesn’t matter how well you know or like that IT guy who has been with you for the 15 years since you were 6 PCs in a peer-to-peer network with a hard drive for file sharing. It just doesn’t work.

Most Managed Service and HelpDesk providers (not all) offer a cohesive and collaborative team of technicians and engineers that DO have these skills. Not just certifications, but day-to-day experience in implementation and support of all the technologies above and especially with cloud technology. Beringer, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, is among them. We can bring you into a world where you still have the flexibility to creatively enable and grow the business but leave the tech side to those who know and understand your needs when communication clearly. We do shine there – there are planning workshop sessions and good back and forth that are done to make sure the need and solutions match so when it’s time to go live – it works.

Challenge: ask your guy for an immediate summary of Office 365 and Azure and see what he comes up with. No “let me get back to you…” while he googles some buzzwords or cuts and pastes a how-to together. Right on the spot. Then call us or any other reputable provider and see what you find out. Like Al Franken used to say: you’ll be glad you did…
