Upgrade to Dynamics 365 – Part 1

With Microsoft’s recent release of Dynamics 365 and more versions to come shortly, many customers are asking about it.  Why should you care and what do you need to know?  You are required to upgrade to Dynamics 365 if you are on Dynamics CRM Online or Dynamics AX Online, but expect to experience a seamless transition.  If you are on an On Premise application, you won’t be required to upgrade to Dynamics 365, but there are many benefits we’ve outlined below which we hope will encourage your decision.

Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure to assist many customers with various CRM upgrades.  Below are some insights that we’ve gained that we hope will help your company.

Dynamics 365 Social Pane New Features

The Dynamics 365 Social Pane is a great way for you to see all related Posts, Activities and Notes for this record, and related records. It also allows for an easy way to create, edit and complete activities without navigating to another form. There’s some advantages to using the Social Pane to control activities, as well as some limitations. One big limitation I found in the previous versions is the inability to control the sorting of these records.

Intelligent Business Applications

You are most likely familiar with descriptive terms for software like CRM and ERP. These terms have been used for years to describe software that businesses run to manage customer information, accounts, inventory, etc. Its time to learn a new term; Intelligent Business Applications. Microsoft is leading this charge with the release of their Dynamics 365 platform which combines traditional CRM and ERP functionality as well as some new tools to help bind functionality together in end-to-end workflows.

Dynamics 365 for Phones and Tablets

Both Dynamics 365 for phones and Dynamics 365 for tablets app will be available from the Windows Store, Apple Store and Google Play.  Microsoft is also working on creating specific apps tailored to Dynamics 365 for Operations and Dynamics 365 for Sales which are expected to include features such as scanning of bar codes and license plates.
