Dynamics 365 Teams Integration

Dynamics 365 Teams Integration

Using technology to facilitate collaboration has become a red hot topic in recent months as companies small and large have raced to unite mobile workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Microsoft’s Slack competitor, Microsoft Teams, is one such tool that millions have turned to during this challenging time. Having used Teams at Beringer since its inception, we’re fanatically excited about how the product has allowed us to continue with business as usual. I could extol the virtues of the Teams all day, but my peers have beaten me to it in articles like Webinar: Microsoft Teams – Connecting at Home Workers, How do I maximize my Microsoft Teams?. Instead, I’d like to share one of my favorite Teams features: the Dynamics 365 Teams Integration.

Full Dynamics Functionality

The Dynamics 365 Teams Integration offers several valuable features, but one of the most exciting is the ability to access a fully functional version of any of your Model-driven apps directly in Teams. If you’re not familiar with Model-driven apps or need help getting started, check out this Webinar I put on a few months ago. Once installed and configured, a single click on the Dynamics 365 app from within Teams brings your Dynamics environment to your fingertips. No separate browser windows, URLs, or login credentials – your sales team has everything in one place.

Pinning Records and Views

This Integration also gives you the ability to pin individual records or views within a Teams channel to facilitate collaboration. This could be particularly useful when multiple stakeholders are working on a high-priority Opportunity in the Sales module, or to bring together an integrated program team in Project Service Automation.

All This and More

The Dynamics 365 Teams Integration also includes a chat bot that allows users to query Dynamics 365 data by asking natural language questions. Microsoft has recently deprecated this feature with plans to replace it with a much more robust version in the near future. If you’ve made the jump to using Canvass Apps, you’re also able to export these from Power Apps and load them into Teams for a tailored experience interacting with your Dynamics data.
